Early Breakfast...

Well, this past weekend the Mets sucked out against the Braves. This is equivalent to being kneed in the nuts by an old lady. I hate the Braves, the team, the institution, the owner, and the former owner. America’s Team? Right. When it comes to winning Americans always come close but fail to seal the deal. Fourteen straight NL East Champs with one World Series Victory (and several losses) does not make you a Dynasty makes you a Flounder. Calling yourself one makes you an asshole.
I don't, however, hate the players. Since they had Dale Murphy in the eighties, the Braves have always had respectable ballplayers. Smoltz, Glavine, Maddox, Javy Lopez, were great players and great people. The Braves beat the Mets and the only Braves fan at work has to wear her Braves gear. Don’t worry she rubbed it in all day.
By the way why isn't Murphy in the Hall? He was a top tier player from 1980 to 1990. Hit 398 dingers when hitting 30+ a year was something. Two MVP’s, four Silver Sluggers, Five golden gloves in centerfield, Seven-time All-Star is more than Rabbit Maranville ever did. He got in because he was a character. So I guess John Kruk who coined the phrase, “Hey lady I’m not an athlete, I’m a Ballplayer.” And when speaking of the ‘91 Phillies, “24 morons and a Mormon.” Of which he was referencing Dale Murphy the Mormon. So I guess when they elect Kruk, Murphy will be there mentioned in quotation marks…

You are absolutely right about Dale Murphy. I tell these youngsters that I work at that Dale was clearly the best player in the game, and if you look at his numbers you'll see just how much the game has changed.

Manny Ramirez has Dale's numbers at the All Star Break but I dont think he's twice as good.
